Ostatni post z serii wspomnień po długim weekendzie w Sudetach. Mieszkaliśmy w bardzo przyjemnym apartamencie w Sokołowsku, a samo Sokołowsko, nie ukrywam - wzbudziło nasz zachwyt.

The last post in a series of memories after a long weekend in the Sudetes. We lived in a very nice apartment in Sokołowsko, and Sokołowsko itself, I must admit, aroused our admiration.

Sokołowsko kiedyś było niemiecką wsią Görbersdorf. Polską nazwę zawdzięcza profesorowi Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego Alfredowi Sokołowskiemu, który przyczynił się do rozwoju uzdrowiska prowadząc tu na przełomie XIX i XX w. badania nad klimatycznym leczeniem chorób płucnych (wiki).

Sokołowsko was once a German village Görbersdorf. It owes its Polish name to the professor of the University of Warsaw, Alfred Sokołowski, who contributed to the development of the health resort by conducting research on the climatic treatment of pulmonary diseases here at the turn of the 20th century (wiki).

Poniżej fragment niezwykłego budynku - starego Sanatorium dr Hermanna Brehmera. Naprawdę robi wrażenie na żywo, żałuję, że sfotografowałam tylko taki mały jego fragment.
W 1855 r. w Sokołowsku zostało uruchomione pierwsze na świecie specjalistyczne sanatorium dla gruźlików, którym zastosowano nowatorską metodę leczenia klimatyczno-dietetycznego. Na wzór Sokołowska został stworzony ośrodek leczenia gruźlicy w Davos. W późniejszym czasie Sokołowsko zyskało miano "śląskiego Davos”, chociaż to Davos powinno nazywać się “szwajcarskim Sokołowskiem”. Bliskim współpracownikiem dr Brehmera stał się prof. Below is a fragment of an unusual building - the old Sanatorium of Dr. Hermann Brehmer. It is really impressive live, I wish I had photographed more than only such a small fragment of it.
In 1855, the world's first specialist tuberculosis sanatorium was opened in Sokołowsko, using an innovative method of climatic and dietary treatment. Following the example of Sokołowska, a tuberculosis treatment center was established in Davos. Later on, Sokołowsko was called the "Silesian Davos", although Davos should be called the "Swiss Sokołowski." Spacer główną ulicą Sokołowska jest bardzo przyjemny. Ładne, stare budynki, kręta droga, zielone góry w tle.

The walk down the main Sokołowska street is very pleasant. Nice old buildings, winding road, green mountains in the background.

Biały Domek w Sokołowsku - dawny pensjonat "Weisses Haus" zbudowany ok. 1878 r. Obecnie jest to dom wielorodzinny.

Biały Domek in Sokołowsko - the former "Weisses Haus" guesthouse, built around 1878. Currently, it is a multi-family house.

Życie w Sokołowsku kręci się wokół dwóch miejsc - sympatycznej Kawiarenki, gdzie z tego co zauważyliśmy, serwują całkiem smacznie wyglądające obiady, i takiej oto poniżej Kino Kawiarni. Miło, swojsko.

Life in Sokołowsko revolves around two places - a nice Café, where, as we have noticed, they serve quite tasty-looking dinners, and this is the Café Cinema below. Nice, homely.

Na tym zdjęciu poniżej widać stolik przynależący do Kawiarenki. Niestety, nie zrobiłam zdjęcia oddającego całość (może głupio było mi robić zdjęcia ludziom i im talerzom, skoro sama nie byłam klientką tego miejsca?). Unfortunately, I did not take a photo of the whole thing (maybe I was ashamed to take pictures of people and their plates, since I was not a customer of this place myself?). Sokołowsko stało się wsią polską w 1945 roku. Pomimo wyraźnego poniemieckiego charakteru miejscowości, widać polski patriotyzm:

Sokołowsko became a Polish village in 1945. Despite the clear post-German character of the place, Polish patriotism is visible:

Villa Rosa

Za Villą Rosą jest Pawilon Humboldta, albo raczej to, co z niego pozostało. Niekoniecznie cel wycieczki sam w sobie, ale jako przypadkowy punkt podczas miłego spaceru - czemu nie.

Behind Villa Rosa is the Humboldt Pavilion, or rather what's left of it. Not necessarily the destination in itself, but as a random point during a nice walk - why not.

Budynek Hauptmana z 1803r. jest też częścią ścieżki historycznej.
