Jedną z rzeczy, które najbardziej lubię w Hive, to zmiana sposobu myślenia - każda bowiem błaha wycieczka może być dobrą okazją do tego, żeby stworzyć jakąś treść do konkursu #pl-travelfeed. Tak więc z jednej strony klęłam na czym świat stoi, że los rzucił na mnie obowiązek udania się do Piotrkowa Trybunalskiego, a jak już tam dotarłam - skrzętnie wykorzystałam wolny czas na małe zwiedzanie tego miasta.

One of the things I like the most about Hive is the change of mindset - every trivial trip can be a good opportunity to create some content for the #pl-travelfeed contest. So, on the one hand, I cursed what the world stands for, that fate made me go to Piotrków Trybunalski, and when I got there - I used my free time diligently for a little sightseeing of this city.

Na dzień dobry witają nas średniowieczne mury miejskie Piotrkowa - bo pod nimi znajduje się parking. Widać było zresztą już z okien samochodu, że to raczej zabytkowe miasto.

On a good morning, we are greeted by the medieval city walls of Piotrków - because there is a parking lot under them. It was obvious from the windows of the car that it was a rather historic city.

Budynek Sądu Okręgowego w Piotrkowie Trybunalskim robi wrażenie, przynajmniej z zewnątrz. W środku nic specjalnego. Na szczęście mnie nie trzymali w środku zbyt długo (resztę naszej wycieczki owszem), więc szybko opuściłam te piękne mury i poszłam na spacer w kierunku piotrkowskiego? trybunalskiego? rynku.

The building of the District Court in Piotrków Trybunalski is impressive, at least from the outside. Nothing special inside. Fortunately, they didn't keep me inside for too long (the rest of our trip was indeed kept there much longer), so I quickly left these beautiful walls and went for a walk in the direction of Piotrkowski? Tribunal? market square.

Kiedy idąc w kierunku rynku od sądu odwrócimy się do tyłu, mamy jeszcze widok na Sanktuarium Matki Bożej Piotrkowskiej i kamieniczki po drugiej stronie ulicy.

When we turn backwards from the courthouse towards the market square, we still have a view of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Piotrkow and the tenement houses on the other side of the street.

Rynek. Niebrzydkie miejsce, niemalże puste, mimo cudnej pogody i kilku ogródków. Czy owe ogródki zapraszały? Nie bardzo, raczej odstraszały - doborem oraz poziomem głośności muzyki. Gdyby nie to dudnienie, zamówiłabym lemoniadę. Tak to podziękuję.

Market square. Not a bad place, almost empty, despite the wonderful weather and several gardens. Were these gardens inviting? Not really, rather deterring - with the selection and volume of the music. If it weren't for the rumbling, I'd have ordered a lemonade. With that loud music on, no, thank you.

Wstąpiłam za to do Lodów Piotrkowskich, będących również Muzeum Lodów. Weszłam do środka z ekscytacją - niestety szybko wyszłam z rozczarowaniem. Lody to głównie lodówki z lodami marketowymi, a kilka smaków, które oferowane były w postaci gałek, nie było zachęcających (czytaj: nie było sorbetów).

Instead, I went to Ice Cream Piotrkowskie, which is also the Museum of Ice Cream. I went inside with excitement - unfortunately I quickly left with disappointment. The ice cream is mostly supermarket ice cream coolers and the few flavors that were offered in scoop form were not appealing (read: there were no sorbets).

Sanktuarium Matki Bożej Trybunalskiej. Serio? To jakaś inna niż piotrkowska? Są dwie?

Sanctuary of Our Lady of Trybunalski. Seriously? Is she something other than Lady of Piotrkow? Are there two of them?

Mały przerywnik na lokowanie produktu. To był pierwszy spacer z moim urodzinowym prezentem. Mapy na garminie są świetne! I widzę już, że obsługa map to jedyna funkcja, w której przydałby się ekran dotykowy. Aczkolwiek chwila zabawy, i już można tymi guziczkami całkiem sporo ogarnąć.

A little break for product placement. It was the first walk with my birthday present. Garmin maps are great! And I can already see that map handling is the only function where a touchscreen would be useful. However, a moment of fun, and you can already handle quite a lot with these buttons.

Dobrze, idźmy dalej. Dawno nie było żadnego kościoła, nie?

Okay, let's move on. There wasn't a church for a long time, was there?

Z tego co mi tu mapy podpowiadają, to Bazylika Mniejsza pw. św. Jakuba Apostoła w Piotrkowie Trybunalskim. Ale czy jest ona taka mniejsza? Nie mam pewności. Ogólnie, to niezbyt piękny budynek, za małe okienka jak na mój gust, ale wieża jest wysoka i jest ciekawym punktem orientacyjnym.

From what the maps tell me here, the Minor Basilica of St. st. James the Apostle in Piotrków Trybunalski. But is it that much smaller? I am not sure. Overall, it's not a pretty building, too small windows for my taste, but the tower is tall and is an interesting landmark.

Typowa piotrkowo-trybunalska uliczka wokół rynku. Dość zaniedbana, może i by była urokliwa, gdyby ktoś tu zadbał o to i owo i wyłączył ruch samochodowy.

Sklep Wokulskiego! Wokulski tu był! Swoją drogą ciekawe, kojarzyłam "Lalkę" z Łodzią, a czytam teraz, że akcja się działa w Warszawie. Tak czy siak, do Piotrkowa dość daleko.

Wokulski's shop! Wokulski was here! Interesting, by the way, I associated "The Doll" with Łódź, and now I read that the action takes place in Warsaw. Anyway, it's quite a long way to Piotrków.

Niezbyt ciekawe otoczenie rynku powoduje, że już trochę kręcę się wkoło, ale całkiem przyjemny ten spacer, całkiem miłe dla oka otoczenie...

Not very interesting surroundings of the market make me wander around a bit, but this walk is quite pleasant, the surroundings are quite pleasing to the eye...

...jeśli odpowiednio skadrujesz swój widok, bo na ulicach oczywiście paskudna samochodoza.

...if you frame your view properly, because the streets are obviously nasty cars.

I znowu uliczka, wąska, zabytkowa, zaniedbana.

And again the street, narrow, historic, neglected.

Widać, że to miasto ma kawał trudnej historii za sobą.

You can see that this city has a difficult history behind it.

Ha! Udało mi się znaleźć lodziarnię z sorbetami, z której nie dudniła głośna muzyka. Chętnie skorzystałam z tej okazji.

Gotcha! I was able to find an ice cream shop with sorbets that didn't have loud music. I gladly took this opportunity.

Posilona sorbetem o smaku zielone jabłuszko (to zdecydowanie nie to samo co sorbet cytrynowy, ale już trudno) idę dalej, bo wciąż dużo wolnego czasu przede mną.

Fortified with green apple sorbet (it's definitely not the same as lemon sorbet, but it's hard to do) I keep going, because I still have a lot of free time ahead of me.

Znalazłam przeuroczy zakątek. Śliczna, odnowiona biała kamieniczka, śliczne kwietniki.

I found a lovely corner. Beautiful, renovated white tenement house, beautiful flowerbeds.

Tu też fajnie, zielono. Na dworze skwar nieprzeciętny, a w tym budyneczku na pewno miło i chłodno.

Nice green here too. Outside, the heat is uncommon, and in this building it is certainly nice and cool.

Jedna jaskółka wiosny nie czyni, jeden rower nie czyni Holandii. Czy nie mogłoby ich być więcej (a mniej aut za to)?

One swallow does not make a spring, one bicycle does not make the Netherlands. Couldn't there be more of them (and less cars for that)?

Dobra, koniec. Pętlą zawróciłam pod budynek sądu. Naprzeciwko kolejny skwer, tym razem duży, z ogromną ilością ławek, krzyżem i takim pitokiem na środku.
Kończę mój spacer i zasiadam z książką.
